St Mary's Church, Buckland, OxonSt Mary's Church, Buckland, Oxon
There has been a church in Buckland for nearly 1000 years – the Domesday Book of 1086 mentions a "church in the Manor of Buckland", probably a wooden Saxon church. The present building is of cruciform plan with a Nave dating from 12th century, the Chancel and Transepts from 13th, Tower from 14th, together with a Vestry and Organ chamber from the Victorian period.

The Friends of St Mary's
The Friends of St Mary's was formed in 2000 out of the successful appeal to rebuild the organ. The main object of the Friends is to financially contribute towards the church building and fabric. There are those, possibly not regular churchgoers who welcome a church of such standing and beauty in the village and who would not wish it to fall into disrepair. It is to these people and the wider community beyond Buckland, that this restoration and preservation appeal is addressed.

We hope you agree that we have a beautiful church, part of our heritage, which should be preserved for the future. We have set ourselves the huge task of raising, on a regular basis, such sums as may be needed but we cannot do so without your support. We continuously need funds for routine repairs and restoration, and future projects are listed herein.

YOU CAN HELP by completing this form and by making a contribution, regularly and by standing order if possible. You may even consider making a legacy within your will.
