The Ionian Singers perform widely in London and the UK and regularly undertake overseas tours. In 2008 they celebrated fifty years of commitment to the performance of new works and great music from the past 400 years. The programme will include the Syvati Duo, the only cello and organ duo in the UK. Timothy Salter, the conductor, is active as a composer, conductor and pianist and has written many choral compositions for the Ionian Singers.
We are actively seeking sponsorship from individuals, organisations or local businesses (an advert in the programme) to cover the choir's expenses and to enable all the ticket takings to go to the charity in Malawi. The names of all sponsors will be mentioned in the programme.
St Mary's Church, Buckland have supported The Joshua Orphan Care Trust as their chosen charity for a number of years.
The money raised will go towards the two new classrooms needed by the Joshua Secondary School where there are 100 pupils squeezed into each classroom. The school provides education for the children in Pensulo and the surrounding villages and has achieved outstanding academic results.
Please note this date in your diaries and invite your friends and families. Contact: Liz Cracknell 01367 870595 | | |
